Don't just take our word for it.

Our family had an incredible time at "The Lucky Duck" on Lake Gaston! The sunsets were absolutely beautiful, and the location was perfect for our getaway. The hosts were awesome and even provided a large dog kennel and dog bowls for our furry friend, which was a big plus. The cleanliness of the place was pristine, the beds were fabulous, and the fully loaded kitchen with all the spices we needed made cooking a breeze. We rented a Tritoon from Lake Gaston Summer Rentals for the week and appreciated being able to dock it at the house on a lift. The two kayaks and paddleboard added extra fun to our stay, and there were plenty of life jackets for safety. We had a blast tubing and boating to the Shady Shack for lunch each day. Thank you again to our host John, especially for helping us with a few condiments for our first night’s dinner so we didn’t have to run out. Highly recommend this beautiful property!

Fantastic property on beautiful Lake Gaston! This place had soo much to offer, so in no particular order:
- The views were amazing! The patios/living areas/decks were great for enjoying the lake views or the sunset
- The beach was great for our little kids to swim in. The kayaks, chairs, life vests, towels, and play toys were perfect!
- The house had everything you could think of for 3 families to settle into comfortably (the house could easily handle more though).
- The house was beautifully decorated. The layout was well thought out and the beds, towels, and linen were luxurious.
- The kitchen had everything for us to cook with (utensils, storage containers, vitamix, etc)
- Lots to do in the house itself for adults and the kids - board games, toys, ping pong, etc
- The owner lives on the neighboring property - he was very friendly and accommodating and one of the best hosts we have met. We had all the privacy we needed

The Lucky Duck was everything you could want for the perfect lake vacation. The home was lovely, grounds were beautiful, wonderful porch for watching the perfect sunsets and everything was spotless. We were greeted by the caretaker who was very helpful. I have to emphasize again that the house had everything you needed for the perfect stay.

I've stayed at dozens of rentals over my life and this by far the nicest, cleanest, and most well stocked place I've ever stayed at. There were so many small touches that made it nicer. Electric automatic shades, high quality kitchen appliances, everything labeled, and probably 30 or life jackets to choose from at the dock. I could go on and on. The owner was very nice and proactive in making sure everything was great for our stay. The view was amazing.

The Lucky Duck is a stunning and amazing home on the Lake. Everything you need for a wonderful home away from home is there. We enjoyed the entire stay from when we drove up to the property to the day we left. Our children and grandchildren loved every moment and we were able to put our Christmas tree up so that we was able to have an amazing Christmas at the lake. John is an awesome host.

Our family of 6 adults and 2 granddaughters had such a great time at this lake house. We made all our meals in the fully equipped kitchen(brought all my own food and pantry items) and had plenty of comfortable places to hang out together. One favorite spot was the spacious screened in back porch which overlooks the lake. The house is nicely shaded on a cove. The whole house is beautifully decorated and provides a great vacation spot. We loved swimming off the dock which had an umbrella and 4 lounge chairs. The owners, Dwight and Candy, were very quick and gracious to answer any of my questions or concerns. We highly recommend this house and would love to return for future vacations

This is a great family-friendly location. The house provided all the amenities we were looking for. We felt right at home with an added bonus of the beautiful lake view. Dwight (the owner) was very responsive and answered my many questions. We will visit again!

The Neighborhood

Welcome to Littleton, Lake Gaston, & Ferncliff

The Lucky Duck boasts 3 overlapping but distinct neighborhoods, all of which combine to make it the perfect place for a lake vacation.

First, it’s a few minutes outside the town limits of Littleton, NC, which has been recently highlighted in an article in “Our State” magazine for an amazing revitalization that includes a new fine dining restaurant, coffee shop/wine store, art gallery, brewery, theatre, amphitheater, school, veteran’s museum, and more.

Additionally, it’s on the shores of Lake Gaston, a beautiful recreational lake that’s over 30 miles long with over 350 miles of shoreline. The Lucky Duck is ideally located on a west-facing, main lake lot with views of miles of open water and dramatic sunsets.

Finally, The Lucky Duck a part of the quiet and idyllic Ferncliff residential neighborhood, which is known for its shady, tree-lined streets, large grassy field for recreation, and small neighborhood boat ramp/access area.
